🐺 Day Three of My Wolverine Collection 🐺

 Wolverine Vol. 2 #3 (1989)

One of the most striking early covers from Wolverine’s first ongoing series. This issue leans hard into Logan’s samurai code, blending honor, tragedy, and violence in a way only late-80s Marvel could pull off.

⚔️ Why this issue matters:

  • Deepens Wolverine’s connection to Japan and bushidō

  • Iconic imagery of Logan torn between duty and brutality

  • Early solo-series storytelling that helped redefine Wolverine beyond “angry X-Man”

This run is where Logan truly became mythic—not just a brawler, but a warrior haunted by honor and loss.

Three days in, and the claws are only getting sharper. 🩸

πŸ”₯ Chaos Quarterly – Bad Girls Era Royalty πŸ”₯

Another essential slice of late-90s Chaos Comics energy with Chaos Quarterly. These issues are pure anthology flex—bringing together the heavy hitters of the Chaos universe in oversized, high-impact form.

What makes these stand out:

  • Lady Death in full dominatrix-of-hell mode

  • Purgatori unleashed—raw, feral, and violent

  • Painted, hyper-detailed covers that define the Bad Girls era

  • That unmistakable Chaos blend of fantasy, horror, and excess

These weren’t just books—they were statements. Big covers, bigger attitude, and zero restraint. Chaos Quarterly was the perfect showcase for everything that made the publisher iconic during its peak.

Bad Girls era. No apologies. πŸ”₯😈

πŸ”₯ Purgatori Run Added πŸ”₯

I’ve been slowly filling in one of the most iconic Chaos Comics titles, and this batch pushes that goal forward in a big way. Purgatori remains peak late-90s Chaos energy—violent, unapologetic, and loaded with classic Bad Girl era artwork.

These covers are exactly why this series still hits:

  • Demonic power on full display

  • Heavy fantasy + horror aesthetics

  • Wildly expressive Brentstone-era art

  • That unmistakable Chaos Comics attitude

Whether she’s standing triumphant in flame or locked in brutal combat, Purgatori is pure visual excess—in the best possible way. This run looks fantastic in the collection, and there are still a few gaps I’m hunting down.

More Chaos books incoming soon. πŸ”₯😈

πŸŽ¨πŸ•·️ Artist Spotlight: Peach Momoko πŸ•·️🎨

 The Amazing Spider-Man #71 — Variant Cover

Art by: Peach Momoko

Few artists can say so much with such restraint. This Peach Momoko variant strips Spider-Man down to mood, elegance, and emotion—placing Gwen Stacy front and center in Momoko’s unmistakable watercolor style. Soft lines, subtle color, and quiet confidence turn a superhero book into a gallery piece.

Why this variant stands out:

  • 🌸 Signature Momoko watercolor aesthetic

  • πŸ•Έ️ Focus on character over spectacle

  • πŸ–Ό️ A cover that reads as fine art, not just a comic

This is the kind of book that reminds you why cover art matters—and why Peach Momoko has become one of the most collected modern cover artists in the game.

A must-have for Spider-Man fans and art collectors alike.

πŸ—‘️🩸 Day Two of My Wolverine Collection πŸ©ΈπŸ—‘️

 Wolverine #2 (Vol. 2)

πŸ“Œ Minor Key Issue

Day two, and we’re already into deep Wolverine lore.

This issue marks the first appearance of the Muramasa Blade—one of the most dangerous weapons ever tied to Logan’s mythology. Unlike adamantium or brute force, this blade was forged specifically to negate healing factors, making it a true existential threat to Wolverine and other regenerators.

πŸ”‘ Why this issue matters:

  • ⚔️ 1st appearance of the Muramasa Blade

  • 🩸 A weapon capable of bypassing mutant regeneration

  • 🧬 Becomes a recurring, pivotal element in Wolverine canon

It’s a quieter key, but an essential one—proof that Wolverine’s greatest enemies aren’t always fists or claws… sometimes they’re ideas forged into steel.

Day two is in the books—and the hunt continues. 🐺

πŸ•·️πŸ–€ A Turning Point in Spider-Man History πŸ–€πŸ•·️

 Amazing Spider-Man #700 (Vol. 2)

πŸ“Œ Minor Key Issue

This one still hits hard, even years later.

Issue #700 marks the death of Peter Parker—not by simple sacrifice, but through the ultimate violation: Doctor Octopus succeeds in swapping minds, leaving Peter to die trapped in Ock’s failing body. It’s one of the boldest narrative swings Marvel ever took with the character.

πŸ”‘ Why this issue matters:

  • ⚰️ Death of Peter Parker (in Otto Octavius’ body)

  • πŸ•·️ 1st cameo appearance of the Superior Spider-Man

  • πŸ”„ Sets the stage for the entire Superior Spider-Man era

Love it or hate it, this book changed Spider-Man canon and proved Marvel was willing to take real risks with its flagship hero. A true modern-era milestone that belongs in any serious Spidey run.

πŸ•Έ️ Some stories don’t just end chapters — they rewrite the book.

πŸ’€ Captain America Homage – With a Dark Twist πŸ’€

This one jumped off the screen immediately — Captain Death #1, a bold and unapologetic homage to classic Captain America imagery.

You can feel the Golden Age influence in the layout and iconography, but it’s filtered through pure underground attitude: skulls, satire, excess, and irreverence. It’s patriotic pulp turned on its head — equal parts tribute and rebellion.

Homage covers like this walk a fine line, and this one owns it. Familiar enough to spark nostalgia, twisted enough to stand on its own. Exactly the kind of book that makes a collection more interesting, not just bigger.

🩸 Star-spangled chaos added to the shelves.

πŸƒ Collector Spotlight – Lenticular Harley Quinn #1 (The New 52) πŸƒ

Had to add this eye-catcher to the collection — Harley Quinn #1, lenticular variant.

These lenticular covers were pure shelf appeal when they dropped, and Harley was the perfect character for the effect. The shifting image adds motion and chaos that fits her personality exactly — loud, playful, and just a little unhinged.

This issue kicked off Harley’s solo run during the New 52 era, cementing her transition from side character to full-fledged headliner. Love it or hate it, this era helped turn Harley into the pop-culture powerhouse she is today.

Definitely one of those variants that looks even better in hand than it does in photos.

πŸ–€♠️ Controlled chaos added to the shelves.

🐺 Day One – Wolverine Collection Begins 🐺

Every collection has a starting point — and this is mine.

Wolverine #1
Logan, finally in his own monthly series.

This book represents a major turning point for the character — no longer just the breakout X-Man, but a solo force strong enough to carry his own title. The cover says it all: feral, relentless, and unmistakably Wolverine.

There are bigger keys, rarer variants, and higher grades still to come — but every run starts somewhere. This is Day One, and the foundation is officially set.

🩸 Claws out.

πŸ’€✨ Collector Spotlight – Lady Death: Malevolent Decimation #1 – CGC 9.8 Signature Series ✨πŸ’€

This one hits on every level — Lady Death: Malevolent Decimation #1, CGC 9.8, Signature Series, and an absolutely haunting cover.

Between the ethereal color palette, the piercing gaze, and the unmistakable Lady Death presence, this cover feels more like a dark fantasy painting than a comic. It’s elegant, sinister, and powerful — everything that has made Lady Death an icon in independent comics for decades.

πŸ“Œ Details:

  • Title: Lady Death: Malevolent Decimation #1

  • Publisher: Coffin Comics

  • Grade: CGC 9.8 (White Pages)

  • Label: Signature Series (Gold)

This is the kind of slab that instantly elevates a display — subtle, moody, and unmistakably premium. Coffin Comics continues to prove that indie books can rival (and often surpass) the Big Two when it comes to cover artistry and presentation.

A true centerpiece for any Lady Death collection.

πŸ’€ Dark fantasy perfection, sealed and preserved.

πŸ”₯ Collector Spotlight – Hellwitch: Hellbourne #1 (Jeweled Edition) πŸ”₯

Another striking addition to the collection — Hellwitch: Hellbourne #1, Jeweled Edition, and this cover absolutely delivers.

Lady Death Universe books always push bold, unapologetic fantasy art, and Hellwitch is no exception. The fiery composition, demonic elegance, and raw power on display make this a true centerpiece cover. From the glowing hellfire to the detailed costume and horns, it’s classic Coffin Comics energy at its finest.

πŸ“Œ Details:

  • Title: Hellwitch: Hellbourne #1

  • Edition: Jeweled Edition

  • Publisher: Coffin Comics

  • Series: Lady Death Universe

This one is staying raw for now, but it’s exactly the kind of book that commands attention on the wall or in a display case. Coffin Comics continues to prove why their covers are among the most collectible in modern indie comics.

πŸ”₯ Dark fantasy. Bold art. Zero compromises.

πŸ”₯ Collection Update – More Spawn Added to the Racks πŸ”₯

Had to share another solid haul — I just added more Spawn to the collection, spanning some great modern-era highlights and fan-favorite runs. Todd McFarlane’s creation continues to be one of the most visually striking and consistently bold series in comics, and these covers are absolute standouts in hand.

This batch includes:
🩸 The Incredulous Spawn
🩸 Spawn #227 – the finale of Spawn’s new origin
🩸 Milestone and collector issues (#231, #229, #225, and more)
🩸 Unique cover concepts like Spawn is Amazing and Spawn of the Dead

From hellspawn mythology to experimental storytelling and unforgettable McFarlane visuals, these issues showcase why Spawn remains one of Image Comics’ crown jewels decades later. Heavy chains, flowing capes, bold colors — it’s pure Spawn energy across the board.

These are staying raw for now, but a few are definitely candidates for future grading or display. Always satisfying to bulk up a Spawn run with issues that look as good as they read.

More organizing to do… but no regrets whatsoever.

πŸ”₯ Chains secured. Cape flowing.

🧬 Collection Update – More Vintage X-Men Added! 🧬

I couldn’t resist adding more classic X-Men to the collection — and these are some absolute Silver and early Bronze Age beauties. There’s just something special about this era: bold Kirby-era layouts, cosmic stakes, and the foundation of everything the X-Men would eventually become.

This pickup includes a fantastic run of early issues featuring:
⚡ Classic Cyclops, Angel, Beast, Iceman & Marvel Girl
πŸ”₯ Major villains and turning points
🌌 The shift toward bigger cosmic and mutant mythos storytelling

From mind-control menaces and returning threats, to the build-up of what would later define the All-New, All-Different X-Men, these books are pure Marvel history. The covers alone are iconic — loud colors, dynamic action, and that unmistakable vintage Marvel Comics Group banner.

Every time I add books like these, it reinforces why I love collecting: holding pieces of the era where legends were still being written in real time.

More organizing, more upgrading, and maybe some slabbing decisions coming soon…

🟑 Mutant history secured.

Back In Icewind Dale

As you all know, I moved back to Norway and it was a tiring trip. After some days of recharging, I am back at it. My Comic Cave is, currently, and unmitigated mess. I am in the process of organizing things and removing things that don't belong. The task is slightly daunting but I will persevere.

Before I left for Norway, a friend of mine and I were talking about selling off the majority of his collection. He has been collecting for a long time and amassed a very valuable collection. We're talking about over eleven thousand books worth over thirty thousand dollars. Here's the best part: we're splitting the profit. I, of course, will take part of my cut in trade. So many gorgeous books in this collection.

Stay tuned for more updates, as I will be showing the books that will become part of my collection.

Stay nerdy, everyone,
Randell.

🎨 Collector Spotlight – My First CBCS ART Slabs! 🎨

The Art of Steve Wilcox never disappoints — and these are officially my first CBCS ART slabs! Each one is a hand-drawn original sketch cover paying tribute to the legendary Incredible Hulk #181, the issue that gave us Wolverine’s first full appearance.

This set features incredible custom re-imaginings:
πŸ’₯ Hulk vs. Daken
πŸ’₯ Hulk vs. Weapon Hex
πŸ’₯ Hulk vs. Honey Badger
πŸ’₯ Hulk vs. Romulus

Every piece captures that classic Bronze-Age battle energy, reinterpreted with modern mutant legends — and every one witnessed and graded by CBCS under their ART label.

They’re currently en route overseas, and I’ll be doing a full unboxing video once they arrive at my new Norwegian location. Can’t wait to show these beauties in hand — vibrant colors, old-school action, and that unmistakable Wilcox flair.

Stay tuned, Hulk fans and sketch collectors — this one’s going to be epic! πŸ’š✏️
