🕸️ Spider-Man Collector Spotlight – ToddFather Spider-Man #1 (1990) 🕸️

Let’s shift away from the idea of new arrivals and focus on what this really is: part of an ongoing hunt.

Shown here are several cornerstone issues from Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #1 published by Marvel Comics in July 1990, featuring the opening chapter of the famous Torment storyline – written and illustrated by the one and only Todd McFarlane.

This issue was a massive moment in the Modern Age. Marvel launched a brand-new flagship title specifically so McFarlane could cut loose, and the result became one of the defining images of 90s comics. That crouched Spider-Man cover is burned into collector memory.

📁 Collector’s Index

  • Title: Spider-Man

  • Volume/Issue: Vol. 1, Issue #1

  • Publisher: Marvel Comics

  • Date: July 1990

  • Arc: Torment – Part One of Five

  • Cover Artist: Todd McFarlane

  • Cover Type: Standard Direct Editions

  • Key Status: MAJOR KEY – First issue of the McFarlane Spider-Man series

Even thirty-plus years later, this book remains a benchmark for detailed linework and bold design.

But as any serious collector knows, a shelf is never truly complete…

🎯 IN SEARCH OF
This post represents my current “in-search-of” list to complete the set:

  • Spider-Man #1 – Gold Variant

  • Spider-Man #1 – Platinum Variant

Those rarer covers are getting tougher to track down, especially here in Norway. If anyone has copies available or good leads, please reach out – I’m actively hunting them.

ToddFather forever.
